Job description

The Anti-Air rifleman (AA) is responsible for the elimination of enemy air threats. It is the only member capable of carrying a launcher that can lock on to aircraft and helicopters. Use heat-seeking technology to neutralize air targets. You should always make sure to inform other members and your squad leader that you have a lock on a helicopter/aircraft and are only allowed to fire when permission has been granted.

Responsibilities

  • Keeping an eye on the sky
  • Anticipating plane/helicopter movement
  • Defend the squad against air threats

Extended profile

In the Anti Air role, you are carrying out support role-specific to ground-to-air squad protection. The most called upon time for the AA soldier is the start or defense of an AO. The advised launcher is the Titan launcher. The TITAN MPRL is the AA variant, the COMPACT is the AT variant.

You are only to engage air targets when you have been given permission by your squad leader, this is to ensure that the whole of your squad has been positioned behind hard cover. From the air, infantry units are difficult to spot on the ground, engaging the air assets might give away the position of your unit and in the crosshairs of the CSAT forces.

The 'Titan' launcher has both an Anti-Air (AA) and Anti-Tank (AT) version. Picking the right launcher and accordingly, the right rockets at the base is essential. You do not want to find yourself out in the field only to realize the shells are not compatible with the launcher you have chosen.

Once you have your target in sight you can lock on to it by pressing 'T' by default. This will engage the heat-seeking technology and ensure the missile finds its way to the locked target. Air assets are defended by flares making a hit more difficult. The TITAN MPRL is a fire-and-forget weapon but the angle and direction of the target makes if the target is able to flare off your attack.
