Job description
As a marksman, your main priority is to spot and eliminate targets at mid-range distances. You also provide fire support from an overwatching position when your squad moves up.
Responsibilities
- Spotting enemy hostiles, informing your Squad Leader about impending threats
- Provide fire support at mid-range distances
- Overwatch members of your fire-team who are pushing up.
Extended profile
As a marksman you are the mid-range supporting unit for your squad. Your main tasks exist out of spotting enemy hostiles and informing your Squad Leader about possible threats.
You will be equipped with a marksman rifle, accompanied with most likely a higher range scope. The combination of both rifle and scope makes you the ideal candidate to effectively eliminate incoming threats from a distance up to 700m.
Eventhough the scope can be set to a maximum range of 1200m, exceeding the 700m mark will render your shots significantly less effective. Remember that your role is to provide supporting engagement at mid-range distances.
Ideally, you would have a teammate giving you a range on the incoming enemy forces. While recieving that range or after having calculated the range with your rangefinder, it is essential to increment or decrement your scope's range to fire at the right distance.
As a marksman, you are a integral part of the squad. Moving with it and using your increased range to neutralize priority targets thats out of range of the other squad members. This means that you are supposed to move with the squad and provide extended range from within the squad. A marksman is not a sniper/lone gunman supposed to sit far away from the squad, a marksman moves with the squad.
