Job description

Mid-range supporting unit capable of using 40mm grenades of all sorts up to a distance of 450m. When engaged by enemy combattants at a mid- to far range you are able to mark enemy positions with red smoke or carpet smoke your way to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Using the wide variety of grenades to your advantage.
  • Call in airstrikes or request support by using red smoke on enemy positions
  • Make efficient use of white smoke to relocate

Extended profile

As the grenadier you are a more versatile rifleman. Using the underslung launcher on your primary weapon you can provide a wide variety of supporting tasks. Besides using the 40mm High Explosive (HE) grenades there are a lot of other means of usage that can come in handy in diffrent situations.

One of which is the use of white smoke shells to place a carpet of smoke between yourself and the attacking enemy forces, giving your squad the time to relocate to a safer position. When recieving blue-on-blue fire you can mark your position with the green smoke shells by shooting straight up in the air, showing friendly forces your location at that point in time.

Another way of increasing the immersion is by using red smoke shells on enemy positions and call in the supporting CAS pilot for an airstrike, this also helps to alert friendly units in the area who might be in the vacinity of the enemy forces. Whenever there is a night operation the 40mm flares are a handy tool to increase visibility.

As it becomes increasingly clear, the grenadier can be a jack of all trades when used correctly. Most persons limit themselves to the 40mm HE grenades missing out on other possible scenario's which can be highly beneficial and immersive for all parties involved.
