77th JSOC / Public Servers / Guides / UAV
Job description
As the UAV operator your main task is to inform ground troops about enemy positions, recon the area around the operations zone and provide fire support with the GBU's from your armed drones when called in.
Responsibilities
- Perform reconnaisance flights and provide real-time intel
- Assist with GBU bombing runs on static targets
- Never engage without authorisation from either HQ or squad leaders
Extended profile
The UAV operator is the all-seeing-eye in the sky for all ground troops. Using both the armed Greyhawks as the deployable Darter's to perform reconnaisance flights without having to risk personnel casualties. When optimally used it proves to be of significant value for ground troops knowing in advance what lies ahead.
Much like the sniper and spotter you have the ability to provide accurate intel about enemy presence and behaviour. With the added value that if you get spotted and/or shot down you will not sustain personnel casualties since you do not have to be physically at the area of operations to do your reconnaisance flights.
One way to easily deploy your unarmed drone or Darter without losing valuable flight time is to load the UAV backpack into a rotary-wing helicopter and ask a squad that is moving out on a mission to deploy the UAV when they have reached their landing zone. That way you can provide quick and real-time information about enemy movements.
When called in by a squad leader to perform a bombing run it is essential that both yourself as the squad leader confirm that your targets are static. You will be inefficient against moving targets and should never engage soft targets. Mostly you will be recieving a designated target from the squad leader himself. If he however does not have the capability to designate the target for you, you can use your unarmed Darter to provide the designation signal and switch to your armed Greyhawk to lock on to the target signal and engage it.
